Tender for construction of wind power plants

70 companies and consortia from 30 countries have applied to participate in the first time held in Uzbekistan, the tender for the construction of wind power plants (WPP) with a capacity of 100 MW. Accepting applications were carried out before 13 may of the current year Independent private power producers were invited to participate in the project by the Ministry of energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of investment and foreign trade and development Agency a public-private partnership under the Ministry of Finance.
Tender winners will participate in the design, financing, construction, ownership and operation of facilities under this project. The first tender for a wind power project will be implemented with the support of the European Bank for reconstruction and development in the framework of the cooperation agreement, whose ultimate goal is the construction of wind power plants with a total capacity of 1 GW.
The site for construction of the wind farm and associated infrastructure selected in Karauzyak district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. We add that this project is part of a wider strategy involving renewables, implemented by the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Overall in the next 10 years provides for the deployment of cost-effective and environmentally friendly wind power plants with a total capacity to 3 GW to meet the growing demand for electricity in the country.
